Foreach develops platform independent webapps for publisher De Tijd/L’Echo
Mediafin, the publisher of De Tijd and L’Echo, will be the first in Belgium to sell digital newspapers through so called webapps. The difference with the well known and already existing apps is that Foreach built the webapps in HTML5, a technology that makes the webapps accessible for all mobile operating systems (iOS, Android, Blackberry, …) because it runs on an internet browser.
This means that more users can be reached in spite of the operating system of their Smartphone and more importantly that the publisher is no longer committed to the iTunes store of Apple and its high percentage of 30% of the profit.
But this also means that the application has to be stable (support a lot of users at the same time) and is complex. That’s why Foreach was definitely the best partner for this project as Foreach is known for its stable, cross medial, qualitative and reliable applications.
Let’ s hope the Belgian version matches the results of the Financial Times in Britain (more users, more gain) and enriches the future possibilities of newspapers in Belgium.
