Web Developer Java (M/V) (BRUSSELS)

Foreach is currently seeking a Java Web Developer to reinforce our team based in Brussels (Tour & Taxis).  You will be part of our Java SCRUM team, which is responsible for in-house web development for our customer in the media sector since more than 5 years.  In this function you will have direct contact with the IT team and the business departments of the customer.  You can rely on the extensive experience of Foreach with large web projects and agile methodologies. 

Your main responsibility will be to develop and support tailor-made web applications and web platforms in Java.  Mostly these applications have a solid back-end that is integrated with complex underlying systems and databases.  Besides Java development you will also be involved in front end development, database development, mobile & tablet development, application maintenance and third line support.  Feel free to check our website for more information about our projects, like MultiMediaEditor, webapps, etc.

Your knowledge of analysis, architecture and testing, your experience with SCRUM and your social capacities will be an asset in our open and dynamic organisation.  Your home base will be Brussels, but on occasion you may be asked to become involved in projects that run on other locations or in our office in Merksem.

MUST HAVE

• A passion for serious web-applications, an eye for performance and code quality
• Prior professional experience in Java web development, the latest standards and browser quirks
• Experience with several Java frameworks, like Spring, Hibernate, Mybatis, Log4J, etc.
• Good knowledge of front end web development (xHTML, Javascript, CSS)
• A preference for agility in all its forms that is expressed in your flexible work attitude and your drive to learn and develop yourself
• An open mind towards other development languages like .NET
• A professional team player attitude and good communication skills

NICE TO HAVE

• A good understanding of the functional aspects of software applications in particular in the media sector
• Experience with SCRUM
• Experience with architecture, analysis or testing of web applications
• Experience with mobile or tablet applications (native or webapps)
• A first experience in .NET, PHP or other web development languages
• A personality and ambition that fits with a young and fast evolving organisation
